A Heritage Experience

A Heritage Experience burst almost full blown into the brain of one of the owners of Crones’ Cradle Conserve who deduced that history didn’t stay in one’s brain when only the eyes were used to experience it. It had to be more effective and, there had to be a more effective way to learn history.  After spending too much time watching people being admonished to “stay behind the lines,” “do not touch,” or “no photography allowed”, she determined to devise a way to offer history where you could touch, dip, pull, push, eat, sweat and have fun.

A Heritage Experience offers visitors 20+ activities designed to experience hands on skills and crafts which were part of every day life for pioneers, settlers and farm-steaders in early Florida. The exhibit is simply made and organized so that folks may enjoy their chosen activity freely and immediately.

The exhibit offers a composite of crafts and skills used through the settling of the territory. So - many periods of early Florida are reflected in the displays.   For example, once clothes were washed in buckets, on river and creek banks or holes in the ground.  We chose to use wash tubs with scrub boards and wringers because we feel our visitors get more “hand work” with them.

Several activities require materials to produce them so we charge a small fee for those.  The price is listed.  We can bring The Heritage Experience to your event for a stipend of $800 within 65 miles of Crones Cradle Conserve.  Call or email  if interested.
